Dušan S. Spasojević
Former Ambassador of Serbia to Greece and Turkey
Dušan Spasojević graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Belgrade and went on to become a barrister. As a Chevening Scholar he completed his MSc in European Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Between 2000 and 2013, Mr Spasojević served as Chief of Staff of the Federal Minister of Internal Affairs, Foreign Policy Adviser to the President of the Republic of Serbia, Deputy Minister of Defence and Serbian Ambassador to Turkey. From February 2016 until March 2024 he was the Serbian Ambassador to Greece. He is a Lecturer of Diplomacy and Defence at the Department of Strategic and Defence Studies at the Faculty of Security Studies of the University of Belgrade.
Dušan Spasojević is the author of two books: Between Turkey and Europe: notes and testimonies between two diplomatic missions (Belgrade: Čigoja Press, 2016 and 2019) and Greece: War of Independence, Creation of the State and Rebirth of the Nation (Athens: Kastaniotis, 2023, and Belgrade: Čigoja Press, Institute for Recent History, Institute for European Studies, Šaper Foundation, 2021 and 2022).
He is fluent in English and Greek, and understands Russian. He is married to Justine Anne and they have two daughters, Tara and Una.
The President of the Hellenic Republic bestowed upon Mr Spasojević the Medal of Honour in 2007. In 2009 the President of the Republic of Italy honoured him with Commander of the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity.
