Assimina Galli-Tsinopoulou
Professor of Pediatrics - Pediatric Endocrinology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki School of Medicine
Professor Assimina Galli-Tsinopoulou is a graduate of the School of Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She holds a PhD from the School of Medicine at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
She obtained her specialization in Pediatrics following clinical training at the Pediatric Clinic of Haunersches Kinderspital, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany, and at the 2nd Department of Pediatrics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
She further specialized in Pediatric Endocrinology at the Endocrinology Department of the Pediatric Clinic of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and in Diabetology at the Diabetes Center of the 1st Department of Internal Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She holds official certification as both a Pediatric Endocrinologist and Pediatric Diabetologist in Greece.
In addition, she received specialized training in Adolescent Health Care through the European Training Seminar on Adolescent Care and Health at the University of Lausanne, in collaboration with the World Health Organization.
Since 2002, she has been a member of the Teaching and Research Staff of the School of Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, initially serving as a Lecturer in Pediatrics–Pediatric Endocrinology and currently as a Professor. She coordinates the undergraduate course “Adolescent Medicine” and teaches Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Professor Galli-Tsinopoulou has an extensive clinical and research record, with numerous publications in national and international medical journals. She has authored chapters in medical textbooks on Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology, and Pediatric Diabetology, and has edited a textbook on Adolescent Medicine. She also serves as a reviewer for international medical journals and as an editor of special issues.
Her scientific work has been recognized with several awards, including a distinction from the Academy of Athens.
She currently serves as President of the Academy for Education and Research in Pediatrics, Secretary of the Hellenic HPV Society, and Secretary General of the Hellenic Society of Pediatric Endocrinology, Diabetes Mellitus and Metabolism. She has previously served as President of the Pediatric Society of Northern Greece and has been an active member of various scientific boards. She is also a member of international scientific societies, including the European Society for Pediatric Endocrinology and the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD).
She has contributed as a representative of the Pediatrics course to the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and has participated in institutional committees related to education and evaluation.
Professor Galli-Tsinopoulou has organized and participated in numerous conferences and research initiatives focusing on pediatric endocrinology and adolescent medicine. She is currently involved in the Learning Pathways Adolescence 360° initiative of the EPICUR Alliance (European Partnership for an Innovative Campus Unifying Regions).
Since September 2019, she has served as Director of the 2nd Department of Pediatrics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, at AHEPA University General Hospital.
Since February 2021, she has also been Director of the MSc Program “Adolescent Medicine and Adolescent Health Care” at the School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
