Ion-Anastasios Karolos
Ion-Anastasios Karolos Assistant Professor at the School of Rural and Surveying Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Assistant Professor at the School of Rural and Surveying Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. His main research focus is the development of GNSS receivers and surveying systems for mapping and staking out, utilizing additive manufacturing technologies along with hardware and firmware development. He specializes in the acquisition, processing, and visualization of 3D geospatial data using modern instruments such as TLS and SLAM systems, UAVs equipped with RGB and LiDAR sensors, GNSS receivers, and total stations. He has extensive research experience in indoor positioning technologies using radio beacons (UWB, BLE) and Wi-Fi. Additionally, he has strong expertise in multiple programming languages and in developing applications for smart mobile devices, IoT systems, web applications, augmented reality (AR), as well as microcontrollers and embedded systems. He has participated in 22 research projects in Greece and abroad and has collaborated with startups and R&D companies in the development of geodetic GNSS receivers.
