Stergios Logothetidis is Emeritus Professor of Physics and Nanotechnology and a globally recognized leader in Advanced Materials, Nanotechnology, Organic and Printed Electronics. He is the Founder and Director of the Nanotechnology Center LTFN / COPE-Nano at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), and Founder of the International Nanotechnology Hub Thessaloniki (NHT), an integrated innovation ecosystem that combines research, industrial production, startups, education, and international collaborations in nanotechnology and organic electronics.
Prof. Logothetidis has devoted his scientific and academic career to the development and industrial application of nanotechnology and advanced materials, with a particular emphasis on Roll-to-Roll manufacturing technologies, Organic Photovoltaics (OPVs), bioelectronics, nanomedicine, and real-time nanometrology and quality control systems.
Throughout his research and innovation career, he has coordinated more than 140 European and national research and innovation projects and has successfully managed and secured funding exceeding €250 million. He has established collaborations with more than 200 industrial and academic institutions worldwide, creating strong bridges between scientific research, industrial production, and commercial deployment.
Prof. Logothetidis is also the Founder of the interdisciplinary MSc Program “Nanosciences & Nanotechnologies” at AUTh. Through his academic and research leadership, he has played a major role in educating and mentoring a large number of scientists and researchers in Europe. He has supervised more than 25 PhD candidates, over 50 postdoctoral researchers, and more than 40 faculty members, while contributing to the education of more than 600 MSc and PhD graduates. His efforts have contributed significantly to establishing one of the largest talent pipelines in nanotechnology and organic electronics in Europe.
His scientific work has generated substantial international impact. Professor Logothetidis is the author and co-author of more than 450 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings and has contributed more than 1,000 scientific works overall. He has delivered more than 700 keynote and invited lectures worldwide. His research output has received over 17,100 citations with an h-index exceeding 65. He is also the inventor and co-inventor of 16 patents in nanotechnology and organic electronics.
Beyond academia, Prof. Logothetidis has demonstrated significant entrepreneurial and industrial leadership. He is Founder and General Director of Organic Electronic Technologies (OET) and OPV Installations, companies focusing on the industrialization and commercial deployment of Organic Photovoltaics technologies. Under his leadership, the companies have successfully delivered pilot production lines and real-world implementations accelerating the market introduction of third-generation photovoltaics and printed electronics technologies.
He is currently spearheading the development of the world's first fully Automated Roll-to-Roll OPV manufacturing line and an EU-funded industrial-scale production platform for next-generation PV technologies.
Prof. Logothetidis has also founded five deep-technology companies, namely NanoCoat, Organic Electronic Technologies (OET), BL NanoBiomed, VK-Nano, and OPV Installations, creating a strong innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem linking scientific excellence with industrial applications.
In addition, he is Founder and President of the Hellenic Organic & Printed Electronics Association (HOPE-A), an industry cluster involving more than 40 high-technology companies with strategic collaborations across six international innovation ecosystems. He is also Founder and Organizer of NANOTEXNOLOGY, established in 2004 and recognized as the largest nanotechnology and organic electronics multievent in Europe. Furthermore, he founded and coordinates NANONET, a global network comprising more than 760 universities, research centers, and industrial organizations worldwide.
Prof. Stergios Logothetidis continues to play a leading role in shaping the international nanotechnology landscape through scientific excellence, industrial innovation, entrepreneurship, and the development of global collaborative ecosystems.
