Maria Milapidou
Reader at the School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUSoM).
Maria Milapidou graduated summa cum laude from the Faculty of Law, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) in 2002. In 2004, she obtained her MSc, and in 2011, her PhD from the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology, Faculty of Law, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Between 2018 and 2021, she conducted postdoctoral research in the same Department.
Since 2015, she has been teaching the course “Medical Law and Bioethics” in a series of postgraduate programmes. Since 2024, she has served as Reader at the School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUSoM). She is also a member of the Laboratory for the Research of Medical Law and Bioethics, Faculty of Law, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Since June 2025, she has been serving as Vice President of the Research Ethics and Deontology Committee (REC) of the University of Macedonia. Previously, from December 2023 to June 2025, she served as Alternate Member of the same Committee. From September 2018 to September 2021, she was Alternate Member of the Research Ethics and Deontology Committee (REC) of the National Centre for Social Research (EKKE).
Dr Milapidou has participated as a speaker in numerous conferences and seminars in the field of Medical Law and Bioethics. She is the author of two monographs, three co-authored books, and more than 75 academic studies, in Greek and English.
