Konstantinos G. Pangalos
Konstantinos G. Pangalos Professor of Genetics Head of the Clinical Genetics Department at the Center for Medical Genetics and Genomics of InterGenetics S.A. (a Medicover Company) until July 2024. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medicine of France. Doctorate holder from the Medical School of the University of Athens and the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Université Paris VII. Habilitated Associate Professor (Docent) of General Biology at the Medical School of the University of Patras. He served as Associate Professor of Genetics at the Necker–Enfants Malades Medical School, Université Paris V. He also served as Director of the Department of Genetics of the First Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University of Athens at Alexandra Maternity Hospital, a department which he founded. He was among the founders of the European Cytogeneticists Association (ECA), of which he served as its first Secretary General. He is also a founding member of the Hellenic Society of Medical Genetics (HSMG), serving as its first President of the Board of Directors. He has published 50 scientific papers in Greek and international journals, many of which have received significant citations. His academic activity includes more than 200 presentations at Greek and international conferences, 58 invited lectures in postgraduate and continuing education courses in Greece and abroad, participation in more than 157 round tables at national and international conferences, and contributions as an author of chapters in six scientific volumes. Since beginning his scientific and professional career in Greece in 1977 and continuing to the present day (2024 – 47 years), he has made a decisive and substantial contribution to the development and provision of Medical Genetics services in Greece. He has received numerous awards and distinctions for his work, both in Greece and internationally.
