Heather Hyde
Director,of Sustainability, Western University
Heather Hyde serves as the Director of Sustainability at Western University, where she leads the team responsible for advancing and implementing sustainability initiatives across the institution. With over 25 years of diverse experience in engineering and sustainability across private and public sectors—including manufacturing and higher education—Heather brings a collaborative and systems-focused approach to her work. In her role, she works closely with partners across campus to integrate sustainability into all aspects of university operations, teaching, and research. She also led the development of Western’s new Climate and Sustainability Strategy, helping to set a clear and ambitious path toward a more sustainable future. Heather received her MBA from the Ivey Business School at Western University and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo. She is also a licensed Professional Engineer. Her work is driven by a deep commitment to environmental stewardship and a genuine desire to have a positive and lasting impact through collective action and leadership in sustainability.
