Asterios Peltekis
Asterios Peltekis Artistic Director of the National Theatre of Northern Greece Asterios Peltekis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. He is a graduate of the Drama School of the National Theatre of Northern Greece and holds an Integrated Master’s degree from the Department of Theatre of the School of Fine Arts at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, from which he also graduated. Since March 2022, he has been serving as Artistic Director of the National Theatre of Northern Greece. He holds a PhD in Cultural Management from the Ionian University, Greece. He has attended theatre seminars in Greece and abroad, notably with Peter Brook, Bruce Mayers, and Sotigui Kouyaté, as a scholarship recipient. As an actor and director, he has collaborated in more than fifty productions with major institutions, including the National Theatre of Northern Greece, the National Theatre of Greece, the Cyprus Theatre Organisation, Pallas Theatre, the Onassis Stegi (Onassis Cultural Centre), as well as with independent theatre companies. He has also participated in television series, films, and commercial productions. He is a professor of acting, theatre history, and dramaturgy. He has taught acting, improvisation, and directing fundamentals in theatre workshops and drama schools in Athens, Thessaloniki, and Nicosia. He also teaches in the Master’s Programme in Performing Arts – Cultural Management at the Hellenic Open University. He is co-founder and director of the art company “Anev Proigoumenou” (“Unprecedented”) and founder of the art company “Ano Throsko” in Nicosia. Since 2025, he has been serving as President of the Inter-Balkan Network of Performing Arts. He has published papers in peer-reviewed academic journals and has participated in conferences, presenting on topics related to theatre studies and theatrical practice. He has served as a collaborator and cultural/theatre consultant for the Andravida–Kyllini Festival 7. He also volunteers teaching the Greek language to migrants and refugees.
