MD, MSc, PhD is Professor of Surgery at the Aristotle University
Grigoris P. Chatzimavroudis, MD, MSc, PhD is Professor of Surgery at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, appointed to the rank of Full Professor in 2023. He is Director of the Complex Hernia and Abdominal Wall Reconstruction Center, based at the Interbalkan Medical Center of Thessaloniki.
He is certified by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) with two distinguished surgical designations: Master Surgeon and Surgeon of Excellence. He is also a certified robotic surgeon in the da Vinci robotic surgical system. His clinical and academic expertise focuses on surgical oncology, advanced laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, and complex abdominal wall reconstruction.
Professor Chatzimavroudis has received advanced postgraduate training at internationally recognized medical and surgical institutions, including the Cleveland Clinic, USA, the University Hospital of Heidelberg, Germany, the Shouldice Clinic, Canada, the Institute of Minimal Access, New Delhi, India, and Anne Arundel Medical Center, Maryland, USA.
His scientific and clinical work has been recognized through four scholarships, eight awards for best scientific papers presented at conferences, and two Excellence Awards from the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. These distinctions acknowledge, among other achievements, his pioneering introduction in Greece of the innovative posterior component separation technique with transversus abdominis release, applied for the treatment of very large and complex ventral hernias.
He currently serves as President of the Hellenic Hernia Society.
