John Dimarakis, MD, PhD, DIC, MEBCTS, FRCS, CTh, is a Cardiac Transplant Surgeon. Dr. Dimarakis received his Medical Degree in 1998 from the University of Athens and his PhD in 2008 from Imperial College London. He has trained in several institutions, including the Hammersmith and the Royal Brompton Hospital in London. His research interests span from basic science to surgical database analysis. Stemming from his doctorate work investigating the regenerative potential of stem cell therapy in ischaemic heart disease, he maintains an active research interest in all aspects of regenerative medicine in heart disease. Dr. Dimarakis has extensive background in adult cardiac surgery, cardiothoracic transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, aortic surgery, redo surgery, DCD heart transplantation, and durable LVAD surgery.
