Professor Marinis Pirpiris is an Australian orthopaedic surgeon and health-system leader based in Melbourne, with a distinguished record of leadership across government advisory bodies, professional associations, and academic institutions. He serves as Chair of the Victorian Perioperative Consultative Council, advising the Victorian Government on perioperative safety, quality and system reform. He is a former President of the Victorian Branch of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, State Chair Director on the Federal Board of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, president of the Australian Orthopaedic Trauma Society and Chair of the Cultural Committee of the Australian Orthopaedic Association contributing to national policy, standards and professional development in orthopaedic surgery.

Internationally, Professor Pirpiris is an active leader within the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association serving as President of the Asia Pacific Trauma Society, President of the Annual Scientific Congress and member of the Executive Committee. He has also held the roles of AO Australian Country Council Chair, Director of Community Development of the Asia-Pacific Regional Trauma Board, Director of the Global Commission of the AO Foundation, International Program Editor for the Masters Lower Limb Curriculum and Task Force Lead of the AO Foundations Access Mentorship Task Force contributing to regional and international collaboration, education and surgical innovation.

His academic appointments include senior university affiliations at the University of Melbourne, Notre Dame University and Dalian University in clinical teaching and surgical education, where he is committed to advancing research, mentoring future surgeons and embedding evidence-based practice within complex health systems.
