    Michalis N. Pikramenos
    President of the Council of State and Professor at the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh)

    Michalis N. Pikramenos is President of the Council of State and Professor at the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh). He has served as Director General of the National School of Judges (2013–2016), national representative to the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) (2011–2018), to the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN) (2013–2016), Chair of the European Union Working Group for the EU Justice Scoreboard Programme (during the first half of 2014, under the Greek Presidency), and focal point of the Council of State in the Superior Courts Network of the European Court of Human Rights (2017–2018). He is also alternate representative to the Group of Independent Experts of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe (2011 to the present), as well as a member of scientific institutes and legislative drafting committees dealing with justice and public administration. He has authored studies and articles in the field of public law and has edited collective volumes.

    He graduated from high school in Michigan-USA, he got a B.A. degree in Political Science from Pantion University of Athens and a DEA Diploma (M.A.) in Theory and Sociology of Mass Media, form Paris 7 University –France.
    He was correspondent for the newspaper «TA NEA» in Paris and for “TO VIMA” in Brussels. Afterwards, he became editor of European Affairs in «Kathimerini» newspaper.
    Between 1995-2017 he was tutor in the «Department of Communication and Journalism of the University of Athens» assigning the seminar «European Reportage» and for 4 years (2000-2004) tutor in the «National School of Public Administration of Greece» assigning for future press officers the seminar «Management of information concerning International Organisations-The case of European Union»
    He has been special Advisor to the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, to the Ministry for the Environment and the Ministry of Education. Also, he was councilor for the Representations of European Commission and the European Parliament in Greece.
    Actually, he works as journalist in the Greek Public Radio, Television and Internet (ΕRT) with specialty on European and International Affairs. Also, he is commentator and analyst in electronic editions and news sites.
    He wrote the study “The youth and the use of Internet in Greece” (Publication of IOM-Kastantiotis 2008) and he was writer/editor of the EU Commission’s publication: “1976-2016-The 40 years history of the Representation of European Commission in Greece”.
    He is Research Associate at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy. He is a Communications Advisor to the rectorate of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Ηe chairs the Greek Section of the «UPF» (International Union of French Speaking Journalists and Media).
