Panagiotis Seferlis is a Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering in the Machine Dynamics Laboratory of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). Since 1999, he has been collaborating in various research fields at the Chemical Process and Energy Resources Institute (CPERI), in the Process System Design and Implementation (PSDI) Laboratory, of the Centre for Research and Technology – Hellas (CERTH). He holds a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from AUTH and has received his Ph.D. from McMaster University in Canada. Before joining AUTH in 2006, he served as a researcher at CPERI/CERTH, worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and as a simulation analyst in Honeywell Hi-spec in Canada.
Evangelos G. Malkakis is an environmental scientist with extensive experience in public administration, specializing in environmental permitting, management, and inspection. Since 2011, he has served as Head of the Department of Environment and Water Resources of the Regional Unit of Drama, contributing to the design and implementation of environmental policies. He holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Management and Education and has strong expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In 2015, he received an Honourable Mention and a Good Practice Title in Maastricht, within the framework of the European Public Sector Awards by the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA), for the development of an innovative environmental GIS and decision-support system in the Greek public sector.
Michalis Georgiadis received his Diploma in Chemical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1992), as well as an M.Sc. in Advanced Chemical Engineering (1995) and a PhD in Process Systems Engineering (1998) from Imperial College London, UK. He has supervised 15 doctoral dissertations. He has published more than 150 papers in leading international journals, 150 papers in international conference proceedings, and 26 chapters in edited book volumes. He is co-author and co-editor of nine book volumes published by Elsevier, Wiley, and Springer, and the author of two textbooks in Greek.
His research work has received wide recognition, with more than 8,800 citations and an h-index of 54 according to Google Scholar as of January 2026. He has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in the USA (2020), served as Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University, China (2018–2024), and as Honorary Senior Research Fellow at Imperial College London, UK (2015–2021). He has participated in more than 25 collaborative projects funded by the European Union, the Greek state, and industry.
