Dr. Christos Voucharas is a Specialist in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Assistant Professor of Cardiac Surgery at Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece. He holds a PhD from the University of Thessaly and completed dual postdoctoral research appointments at Aristotle University. Licensed to practice medicine in both Greece and Germany, his clinical and research interests include coronary artery, valve and great vessel surgery, beating heart surgery, digital biomarkers in heart failure, ischemic preconditioning of the myocardium, and postconditioning of the human brain. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Federation for Medical Research (AFMR). He has served as Local Principal Investigator for the LAAOS III study, Principal Investigator for the RIGBDE trial, and is a founding member and former President of the Alzheimer Society, as well as a member of the Dementia Federation in Greece. Dedicated to community service, he also provides voluntary support for the elderly, disabled, and individuals with mental health issues and intellectual disability through art and creative engagement.
